Slowing Down

"Is it the world that's busy, or is it my mind?" - Haemin Sunim, 'The Things You Can See When You Slow Down'
My local park overrun with dandelions
The thing I enjoy about running rather than, for example, going to the gym or swimming is that I get to do it outside.  Walking is another thing I love to do; running but slower! We notice more when we slow down.  Walking provides headspace.  I know many people try but it's pretty tricky to look at your mobile phone while walking, walking takes you away from distractions.

I live in the 'burbs, there are a few parks but none that are even big enough to host a Parkrun.  I can run around my local park in five minutes.  I still love that little park though.  It's funny what you can find when you become an intrepid explorer though.  Sometimes following a sign that says 'public footpath' can send you on an adventure.

I prefer to leave my car and walk if it's feasible.  Today I did an 8km round trip to the local shopping centre, mostly alongside a dual carriageway but even then it's amazing what you can see, things that no one is seeing from their cars.

Yesterday we trekked around Haworth - Bronte country and it was divine.  The scenery breathtaking, the air fresh, the sun warm and the breeze refreshing.  Stretching our legs and feeling the burn in our muscles and lungs as we hiked up the moors.  And even afterwards; that wonderful feeling of accomplishment, sharing our photos, feeling like we did something new and that we had something to tell people about.

Go exploring, slow down, take in the scenery wherever you are 💜
